Baby’s second week

Week 2

By the beginning of Week 2 you and your baby have probably fallen into a routine. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t still questions and challenges, but you and your baby are beginning to understand this new reality of life together. The general recommendation is for babies to be back at or beyond their birth weight by 2 weeks old. You may also notice your baby has longer awake and alert periods than last week. This is a great time to talk, sing, or allow your baby to gaze at you for “play” time.

Both you and your baby need frequent naps to help with your recovery and Baby’s development.

Offer a feeding right before and right after a nap to set your baby up for the best sleep.

Feeling like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster is normal; you should always reach out for help when you need it.

Watch for those baby cues and respond accordingly. Remember, crying is a late cue that your baby needs something.
